Oklahoma is bordered by a total of six states. These states are Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, and New Mexico.

The first parking meter in the United States was put into place on July 16, 1935 in Oklahoma City. The device was invented by native Carl C. Magee.

Astronaut Thomas P. Stafford is honored in Weatherford, Oklahoma by a life-size statue.


Fact 4
During World War II Boise City became the only city in the United States to be bombed. The bombing took place on July 5, 1943.

The shopping cart was invented by Oklahoma native Sylvan Goldman.

Fact 6
Every year the “World Championship Cow Chip Throw” competition is held in Beaver, Oklahoma. This event involves participants tossing hardened cow droppings long distances in order to score points.

Oklahoma City is home to the National Cowboy Hall of Fame.

Fact 8
A huge Pecan Festival takes place in Okmulgee, Oklahoma every year. Throughout the years this festival generated the world’s largest pecan pie and pecan cookie.

The original capital of the state was Guthrie. However, after a vote took place the capital changed to Oklahoma City.

The first electric guitar was invented by Oklahoma native Bob Dunn in 1935. He was a guitarist in the band “The Beggs.”
