Malaysia consists of two major regions. One is Peninsular Malaysia and the other is Malaysian Borneo. One of the three federal territories is Kuala Lumpur, which is the capital of Malaysia.

The population of the country is about 30 million people with 20% of Chinese ethnicity and 70% Indian. The life expectancy of men in Malaysia is 71 years and 74 years for women.

The Kuala Lumpur Tower is the fourth tallest tower in the world at 421 meters high. It is the tallest building in the Southeast Asia region.

The Malaysians celebrate Hari Merdeka or Independence Day on 31st August.

Malaysia is home to 600 species of birds, 200 species of mammals, 140 species of snakes and 60 species of lizards. They have over 14,500 species of flowering plants and trees. The largest flower in the world is Rafflesia which is found only in Sabah.

Popular sports in this country are soccer, field hockey, badminton, bowls, squash, martial arts, tennis, horse riding, skate boarding and sailing.

Fact 9
The only place in the world where large-scale cave tin-mining was conducted was in the village of Wang Kelian in Perlis, Malaysia.

Fact 10
Sarawak Chamber in Hunung Mulu National Park is the largest in the world and can accommodate a Boeing 747-200.
