**Fact 1**

Richard Feynman was born on May 11, 1918 in Manhattan, New York.**Fact 2**

He received a bachelor’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1939.**Fact 3**

Feynman achieved an unprecedented feat by obtaining a perfect score on the graduate school entrance exams to Princeton University in mathematics and physics. He received a PhD from Princeton in 1942.

He joined the secret US army project called the Manhattan Project at Los Alamos to develop the atomic bomb.

Richard Feynman was a junior physicist under Hans Bethe’s theoretical division. He and Bethe developed the Bethe-Feynman formula for calculating the yield of a nuclear fission bomb.

After the war he joined Cornell University and taught theoretical physics from 1945-50. Feynman later joined California Institute of Technology (Caltech) where he did significant research work.

Richard Feynman received the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1965 for his contributions to the development of quantum electrodynamics, jointly with Julian Schwinger and Sin-ltiro Tomonaga.

He developed a pictorial scheme for the mathematical calculations on the behavior of subatomic particles, which are known as the Feynman diagrams.

Feynman was ranked as one of the ten greatest physicists of all time in 1999 by a poll conducted by the British journal Physics World.

Richard Feynman died on February 15, 1988 in Los Angeles, California.
