Seoul is home to the world's fastest internet connection, reaching speeds up to 1 GBPS. By 2015, the city also plans to offer free Wi-Fi in parks, streets and other public places.

Seoul became the first city in East Asia during the late 19th century to use electricity in the royal place, built by the Edison Illuminating Company.

The population has proved to be the second densest in the world, next to Paris. The population is almost eight times as much as Rome.

The city originally had a fortress stone wall built around it in 1397 as protection from invaders like wild animals and thieves.

The city's tallest mountain and national park, Bukhansan, also holds a Guinness World Record for the most visitors per square foot.

It is one of the eight first-level cities of South Korea and became a 'special city' as of 1949.

The city holds a "Hi! Seoul Festival" four times a year, each seasons, since 2003. It is based on 'Seoul Citizen's Day', which has been celebrated every October since 1994 to commemorate the 600 years of Seoul as the capital.

There have been a number of games hosted there, including the 1988 Summer Olympics, the 2002 FIFA World Cup and the 1986 Asian Games.
