It was Leavitt's work that allowed astronomer's to measure the distance between the Earth and other galaxies.
She graduated from Radcliffe College with a bachelor's degree in 1892.
As a female computer at the Harvard Observatory, she only earned $0.30 an hour.
Her work results helped prove the distance to the Milky Way, and that there were more galaxies further away. Later, that was called 'Hubble's Law'.Fact 5
