Greta Garbo battled depression for the majority of her life. She was often referred to as moody or temperamental.

She began collecting works of art in the 40s and amassed a collection that was worth millions of dollars when she died.

Greta Garbo became a naturalized citizen in 1951. Once she became a citizen she purchased an apartment in Manhattan where she lived out the rest of her days.

She was notorious for taking long walks around New York wearing huge sunglasses. Sometimes Greta Garbo walked alone and at other times she had companions that walked along with her.

Greta Garbo was diagnosed with breast cancer and was successfully treated for the disease in 1984.

The actress never married nor had any children. After her death many letters were discovered that had been written by her and seemed to suggest that she may have been a lesbian.
