Though he did study at the John Lennings Textile College in Norrkoping, he went to the U.S. in 1896 for more education.

He not only invented ball bearings, but had at least 35 more patents for things such as hydraulic clutches and automatic transmissions.

Fact 3
He was involved in many companies, including chairman of the Swedish Power plant Ab and of Nydqvist&Holm AB.

As an advocate for social responsbility, he helped develop vacation leave with pay and shorter working hours.

Fact 5
He founded Swedish Kullagerfabriken, but resigned as CEO in 1919 due to fatigue.

Fact 6
His company began manufacturing ball bearings for the automobile industry in 1915.

Fact 7
He was married twice, but shares a grave with his second wife at Eggby Church.

Fact 8
In 1895 after entering the United States, he began to practice mechanical engineering at various workshops.

Fact 9
Two of his former employees developed a car company, which he helped name. It was "Volvo" or "I roll" in Latin.

Fact 10
He was also the CEO of a weapons manufacturing company called Bofors in Karlskoga.
