Peter Sellers was born Richard Henry Sellers.

In October 1997 he was ranked number eighty-four by Empire Magazine in their “Top 100 Movie Stars of All Time” list.

He was great friends with “The Beatles” and was even given a rough mix of the “White Album.”

The majority of the roles that Peter Sellers acted in were comedy based in which he often parodied characters of authority. Some of the movies that showcased his hugely talented artistic range were “What’s New Pussycat?”, “The Party”, “Casino Royale”, “Lolita”, “Being There” and of course, “The Pink Panther” series of films.

In the 1950’s he was part of a BBC Radio show known as “The Goon Show.” His co-stars on the show were his longtime friends Spike Milligan, Michael Bentine and Harry Secombe.

Has the distinction of being the first male to ever appear on the cover of Playboy Magazine in 1964.

In 1964 he suffered a heart attack but quickly recovered. After the heart attack he claimed to have gone to heaven and spoke with an angel that told him that it wasn’t his time to go.

Peter Sellers was the first actor to ever be nominated for a single Best Actor Academy Award for playing three different characters in a single film. The Film was “Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb.”

Premiere Magazine ranked him as the 41st “Greatest Movie Star” of all time.

Fact 10
Peter Sellers died on July 24, 1980 of a heart attack in London, England.
