Fact 1
Nikola was a leader in the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization (IMRO).

Fact 2
In Bulgaria, he is considered a Bulgarian hero. In the Republic of Macedonia, he is considered a Macedonian hero.

Fact 3
From 1900 on, he worked as a teacher in Ottoman Macedonia.


Fact 4
He was the author of the Krusevo Manifesto.

Fact 5
He had two brothers named Petar and Georgi. They were also involved with the IMRO. They were imprisoned and died in concentration camps.

Fact 6
In 1905, he died in an attempt to enter Macedonia with the IMRO.

Fact 7
In 1893 he joined a socialist group led by his current employer.

Fact 8
In 1898, he returned to Ottoman Macedonia and graduated from the Bulgarian Exarchate's gymnasium.

His socialist group saw future Macedonia consisting of people from different nationalities.

In Kocani is a monument of Nikola Karev.
