A Wilhelmina Models representative spotted Andie while she was on a trip to Los Angeles. She eventually got sighed-up by the agency.
MacDowell’s family owned an Antebellum period summer-house in Arden, North Carolina. It is now a bed-and-breakfast and is named the “Blake House Inn”. An upstairs bedroom closet has graffiti from all her childhood visits.
In the early part of the 1980’s, Andie was a Vogue magazine model. She also appeared in Yves Saint Laurent, Armani perfume, Vassarette, Mink International and Sabeth-Row ad campaigns.
National television commercials and billboards in Times Square for Calvin Klein attracted the attention of movie producers. It led to her bagging her debut role in the 1984 film “Greystroke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes”.Fact 5
