Fact 1
Rachel’s modeling career began when she was 14, and she was known as an “English Rose”, in praise of her beauty.

In 1984, she received an offer to star alongside Richard Gere in the film King David, and raised eyebrows when she turned the offer down.

Fact 3
Rachel went on to study English at Trinity Hall in Cambridge, appearing in a number of student productions and becoming the co-founder of the Cambridge Talking Tongues, a student drama group.

In 1992, she had her film debut in the television movie Advocates II.

This was followed by a minor appearance in Death Machine in 1994.

Rachel’s breakthrough role in 1996 in the film Chain Reaction, where she appeared alongside Keanu Reeves and Morgan Freeman.

In 1999, she received international recognition when she played the female lead role in The Mummy, opposite Brendan Fraser.

Although Rachel received some criticism for her acting in The Mummy, she returned in the 2001 sequel The Mummy Returns, which went on to gross approximately $433 million worldwide.

In 2005, she appeared in The Constant Gardener, which drew critical acclaim and earning Rachel the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Rachel is also an accomplished stage actress, having won the Critics’ Circle Theatre Award in 2009 for Best Actress for her portrayal of Blanche Dubois in A Streetcar Named Desire.
