The Legend of Zelda, a fantasy action-adventure game, has 17 games. They are on all of Nintendo's major consoles.

The game has never used speakers and only uses text. The producer has said speaking voices may be off-putting.

The first game of the Zelda series was released in Japan in 1986. It was made for the Famicom Disk System.

The game influenced a 13-episode TV series in 1989. It also sparked a comic series released by Valiant Comics.

The 3D version of the game, Ocarina of Time was released for the Nintendo 64 and was voted by Nintendo Power as the best game released for a Nintendo console.
