Raised in Framlingham, Suffolk, Sheeran moved to London in 2008 to follow his dreams of having a musical career.
Sheeran sang in a local church choir when he was four, learned playing the guitar when he was young, and began writing songs while he was Thomas Mills High School in Framlingham.
His childhood memories include listening to Van Morrison on his to London with his parents and attending a Damien Rice gig in Ireland at the age of eleven.
Sheeran's debut album + was released on Sept.12, 2011. + received generally favorable reviews from music critics. + debuted number 1 on the UK Albums Chart, selling 102,000 copies in its first week. His album became the second bestselling debut album and the 9th biggest-selling album of 2011 in the UK. The album also reached the top ten in Australia, Belgium, Netherlands, New Zealand, and Switzerland music charts.
In 2012, Ed won two BRIT awards: Best Breakthrough Act and Best Solo Male Artist.
Matthew, his older brother, is a classical music composer.
In 2012, he bought a farm near Framlingham, Suffolk and hopes he could raise a family there.
Eminem is Sheeran’s favourite rapper.
Elton John is a massive Sheeran fan – they dueted at the Grammy Awards.
