Fact 1
Ranjit, which translates to Victor in War, was renamed after his father returned from a victorious battle. He was originally named Budd Singh.

He was diagnosed with smallpox as a child. He lost one of his eyes.

In 2003, a bronze statue of Ranjit Singh was placed in the Parliament of India.

He was known as "Sher-e-Punjab" which means "Lion of Punjab". To this day it is used as a term of respect towards men of power.
