The official name of Belarus is the “Republic of Belarus. The name Belarus means “White Russia.” More than 80%of the population are native Belarusians.

The official currency is called Belarusian Ruble. Belarus traffic cops in the vast majority do not take bribes.

Belarus gained independence from the Soviet Union in 1990. The Independence Day is celebrated on 3 July.
